Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at dessavoiceai.org and the services offered on it (together, "DessaVoice" or the "Service"). DessaVoice is operated by an independent developer based in Hong Kong ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What DessaVoice is — and is not

DessaVoice is an independent voice AI practice studio and information hub. It offers:

• free tools: a breakdown of the official Dessa audio recordings published by Block, Inc., a local hardware readiness checker, a 5-second microphone preview, and a "bring your own key" (BYOK) mode;
• paid live voice calls with our hosted real-time voice AI, billed in credits.

DessaVoice is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Block, Inc. Block's Dessa model is not available through this Service and is not sold here. Our paid live calls run on our own hosted pipeline (speech recognition, a language model and speech synthesis provided through Cloudflare). BYOK calls run on OpenAI's Realtime API using your own OpenAI account.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the free tools and at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to make a purchase. Paid features require signing in with a Google account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Tell us promptly at support@dessavoiceai.org if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Prices, credits and payments

Payments. Purchases are processed by Creem, our merchant of record. Creem handles checkout, invoicing and applicable sales tax, and its terms also apply to your purchase. We do not receive or store your card details.

Credits. Live calls consume credits at 10 credits per minute, metered in 6-second steps (1 credit per 6 seconds or part of it). Your remaining time is shown during a call, and a call ends automatically when your credits run out. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and can only be used for live calls on DessaVoice.

Instant Voice Pass — US$4.90, one-time payment. Adds 150 credits (15 minutes of live calls) that expire 7 days after purchase. It does not renew.

Pro Studio — US$12.90 per month, billed monthly until cancelled. Each billing month adds 1,200 credits (120 minutes of live calls), which expire 30 days after they are added. Individual calls are limited to 45 minutes.

Cancelling Pro Studio. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancellation stops future renewals; your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

Prices are shown in US dollars and may change. Price changes never affect a purchase you have already made; for Pro Studio we will give notice before a new price applies to your next renewal.

4. Refunds

• Unused purchases: if you have not used any credits from a purchase, you can request a full refund within 7 days of buying it.
• Used purchases: once any credits from a purchase have been used, the purchase is non-refundable, except where a technical fault on our side prevented you from using it. In that case, email support@dessavoiceai.org within 14 days with the date of the issue and we will refund it.
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method through Creem. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the consumer laws that apply to you.

To request a refund, email support@dessavoiceai.org from the address on your account. We reply within 3 business days.

5. Bring your own key (BYOK)

In BYOK mode your browser connects directly to OpenAI using an OpenAI API key that you provide. Your key is sent only to OpenAI and, if you choose, saved only in your own browser. BYOK usage is billed by OpenAI to your OpenAI account under OpenAI's terms; we are not responsible for those charges or for OpenAI's service.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use DessaVoice to:

1. break any law, or help anyone else break the law;
2. harass, threaten, bully, defame or discriminate against anyone;
3. impersonate a real person, or create audio or transcripts intended to deceive others about who is speaking — including presenting our AI voice as Block's Dessa or as any real individual;
4. commit fraud, scams, phishing or social engineering, including calling or recording people without their consent;
5. generate sexual content, content involving minors, or content that promotes self-harm, violence or terrorism;
6. seek medical, legal, financial or emergency help as a substitute for a qualified professional or emergency services;
7. bypass or interfere with credit metering, authentication, rate limits or other security measures, or share one account to resell access;
8. scrape, overload or attack the Service, or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows;
9. upload or speak content that infringes others' intellectual property or privacy.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. If a violation involves a purchase, we may refuse a refund for it.

7. AI output

Conversations are generated automatically by AI models. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate, and do not represent our views. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions. DessaVoice is not an emergency service.

8. Content and intellectual property

The DessaVoice software, design and original text are owned by us. Short excerpts of Block's official Dessa recordings are shown for commentary and discussion with attribution; all rights in them belong to Block, Inc. If you are a rights holder and want content removed, email support@dessavoiceai.org.

You may download recordings of your own live calls for personal use. You are responsible for what you say during calls and how you use any downloaded recording.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. If we discontinue paid live calls, we will refund the unused portion of any active purchase. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Sections 4, 7, 8, 11, 12 and 13 survive termination.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where the consumer laws of your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings there.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will also show a notice on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
